the story of self

Everyday a war is waged

Against self and life,

Against death and light

And every day we lose the fight

And prove ourselves unworthy.

Once again, the devil was right

Our hearts are readily his faithful understudies.

Meanwhile, our Creator formed us for the day He’ll be ready

Ready to remove we, His Image bearers, from this wretched universe.

What He built

And said was good– every tree of this earth

Every stone

But the heart of man refused to yield.

He called his life his own,

And now, is reaping what he’d sown.
